Parent's Guide to Climate Revolution

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” - Martin Luther King Jr

“Any instance of inequality is worth writing about, sighing about, crying about, even laughing about. The collective conscious of the human race is asleep until people force its eyes open, refusing to let them escape into dreams of a better world until they can confront and cure the injustices of this one,” writes Zahra Hasanian in the forthcoming book, Be the Star You Are! Millennials to Boomers that host Joven Jundal reads and discusses in this important episode about equality. Joven interviews author Mary DeMocker about her book The Parent’s Guide to Climate Revolution, 100 ways to build a fossil-free future, raise empowered kids, and still get a good night’s sleep. Mary encourages us to say yes to life with the global transition to a clean energy, low-carbon future. She shares dozens of wide ranging ideas and activities to be part of this necessary revolution — from embracing simplicity parenting, to freeing themselves from dead-end science debates, to teaching kids about the political power of creative protest, to changing their lifestyle in ways that will bring their family together, improve moods, and also reduce their impact on the earth. In the segment Ode to Literature, Caitlin Sims talks about the role of equality and how people use books as a platform to convey a message about society at the time specifically exploring the social inequality in Harper E. Lee’s famous novel To Kill a Mockingbird.

“There cannot be enduring peace, prosperity, equality and brotherhood in this world if our aims are so separate and divergent, if we do not accept that in the end we are people, all alike, sharing the Earth among ourselves and also with other sentient beings, all of whom have an equal role and stake in the state of this planet and its players.”- Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck
